I bet a lot of people know about it, but do you know how Article Directory can be a multiple source of income for you?

I once ran a few article directories. I didn’t know how much time it needed to be spent on maintaining them and I did not have a long term plan for these article directories.

So, I ditched them.

From this experience, I know that running one article directory is enough to take a lot of your time (unless you hire someone to approve the articles on your website).

The lesson is – if you want to build a business based on article directory approach, have one running smoothly before you consider building another article directory.

OK, now, once you get the article directory running, what should you do to monetize it?

There are a few ways to monetize article directory.

The more popular ones are selling ad space, putting up adsense codes and selling products on the website.

However, I wanna touch on one important way to monetize from this article directory website.

I call it “article directory mailing list gold”.

You heard people say that the money is in the list, and here is how you’ll get thousands of people in your list in a matter of weeks.

I’ve not seen anyone mention about it yet but you can make full use of the list of authors who submit their articles to your article directory to promote your product or affiliate program.

However, building a mailing list at a warp speed through article directory has a trick.

You can promote your article directory on your own but unless you do it in a bog way, you’ll never be able to build a huge article directory or mailing list.

Here’s what you can do.

1. After you built your article directory site, find a few article submission services to accept articles on autopilot. An example of these services are articlemarketer.com and isnare.com.

2. Contact them or find instructions on their websites on how you can accept the articles published on their websites by installing a few codes.

3. Install these codes on your article directory site and get ready to receive thousands of articles together with thousands of emails of the authors from these article submission services.

That’s it.

Not only you will receive articles that will populate your article directory in no time, you will get a mailing list that you can promote anything to them.

I normally send out promotions on products related to writing articles or software that will help authors get more exposure through their articles. And that works well because these products are targeted to these groups of people.

You can also build an article directory that focuses on a small niche and promote products that this group are looking for.

It was based purely on article marketing on a very tight niche.

But, ever since, I’ve improved the little niche website and I’ll share a little something for you today.

First, that website is based on my family hobby, and related to pets.

Since we have these pets in the house, it is easier to get the info and tools that I need to build a website. We’ve been caring these pets for awhile now and I thought, why not make money out of this hobby.

After researching a product on the internet, I found out that selling ebooks as an affiliate from Clickbank would be perfect as ClickBank is a reliable company. Then, I began selling one ebook using article marketing. The results are as shown on Secret Article Profits website.

When I know that this niche has buying market, I approached the author of the ebook asking if he has articles that I can use to promote his ebook. I told him that I’ve made a few sales and he was more than happy to even give me his ebook for free and allow me to quote a few paragraphs from the ebook as a content to my website.

It gets even better because I’m also allowed to use these paragraphs (articles) in my autoresponder.

With a few articles in the autoresponder, my marketing strategy is almost automated.

What I do next is create a simple opt-in website so that web surfers can leave their names and emails on my website. These web surfers will then be followed up with the articles that I’ve programmed into my autoresponder.

Here’s where most of the pre-selling is done. The articles that are sent to the autoresponder subscribers will be reminded to visit my affiliate website at ClickBank, and when they make a purchase, I make the commission. It is as easy as that.

As you can see, I’ve done article marketing and I’m adding one more marketing campaign on the list. That’s when I take my videocam and shoot my pets.

I bet you can guess what I do next.

Yes, these videos are uploaded to YouTube, which up until now, there are over 3,000 visitors viewing my two amateur videos. Needless to say, the sales keep on coming too.

Tonight alone, I’ve added three more videos and I think my videos will be some of the favorites soon too.

I’ll probably stop writing about this niche on my own or hire someone to write articles for me, but I’m sure that I can shoot a lot more videos to be uploaded on YouTube.

So, if you are like me and have been thinking on what topic you would like to make money from the internet, try to find a hobby or something that you already like doing and see if that will potentially generate easy cash for you.

The one that I’m doing is 100% based on my hobby and I don’t focus much on all the mumbo-jumbo search engine tricks and stuff like that. And, I’m not even an expert in that niche (or even niche marketing itself).

Hopefully, my tips will trigger you some ideas before you go to sleep tonight.

And, it can grow virally.

Although the cost of submitting your website can be zero, you have to find time to submit your articles to various article directories and websites.

I used to do like that but after doing it for awhile, I decided to use article submission services to save me time.

Yes, it costs money but it saves me hours of submitting articles by hand.

Article submitter software is helpful too, but I was lazy to go sign up from one article directory to another before I can use it. So, it makes sense to me to use article submission service.

For example, if I have 25 articles to submit, I pay only $38 one time. If I want to submit more, I pay more.

You can choose a few good high traffic article directories such as ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com to begin your article marketing campaign or you can opt to use Article Marketer or iSnare (or both), like I do. If you’ve been online long enough, I think it’s about time for you to consider using article submission services.

Last weekend was a memorable one for me.
